MPA Mission:
Metropolitan Pima Alliance is dedicated to advocating responsible development in the Pima County metropolitan area and furthering the interests of the real estate and development industry through education, public policy advocacy and networking.
In 1997 a small group of individuals came together to discuss the need for an organization that could unify individuals to pragmatically deal with development and growth related issues in Pima County. This vision translated to the organization that now exists as Metropolitan Pima Alliance (MPA). MPA’s focus is to create sensible community planning solutions by encouraging and assembling reasonable and respectful discussion amongst diverse groups and interests.
Unique to the region, MPA is an alliance of business, government and non-profit organizations. MPA’s goals directly relate to improving our region’s quality of life and economic vitality and to that end, MPA strongly believes in the positive participation and contributions of the private business sector working in collaboration with local jurisdictions.
MPA’s goal is to participate, educate and influence public policy and decision making for Metropolitan Pima County. Since its inception, MPA has grown to become a major voice in the community on growth related issues. As an example, MPA led the charge on recent items such as refining the City of Tucson’s Certificate of Occupancy code, negotiating with the City of Tucson and Pima County on deferring or delaying impact fees and creating a well-balanced rainwater harvesting code in Oro Valley.
Aside from policy creation, MPA brings the community together. Our Wild Ride and Common Ground events are great examples of this. The Wild Ride event is open to everyone in the community and it gives participants the opportunity to meet elected officials, business leaders, and their neighbors. This networking event allows hundreds of people to meet when otherwise they would not. Common Ground is an award ceremony that celebrates the essence of MPA- Finding the common ground between the public and private sector, the common ground between land development and environmental protections and the common ground between current residents and the future population.
MPA has grown to over 130 members and a Board of Directors of 25. Join Now!
