About MPA: |
MPA History: Metropolitan Pima Alliance (MPA) began in 1997 and was patterned after Valley Partnership in Phoenix. Tim Terrill had been very active with Valley Partnership in Phoenix prior to transferring to Tucson with Stantec Consulting in 1997. Tim saw a need for a similar organization in Tucson that could pragmatically deal with development and growth issues in Pima County. This was a time when the community was actively opposing virtually all proposed projects in Pima County. The idea was to bring all of the "stakeholders" to the table to reach sensible solutions to the inevitable growth and development that would occur in the metropolitan area. Tim, Mike Grassinger with Planning Center, Allen Lurie, at the time with Southern Arizona Homebuilders Association, Patty Richardson with Tucson Association of Realtors and others urged members of the real estate and development industry to join this new organization to advocate responsible development in the Tucson area through education, public policy formation and member networking. From its inception in 1997, MPA has grown to become a major voice in the community on growth related issues. The membership has grown to over 120 businesses and a Board of Directors of 25. |
Metropolitan Pima Alliance is a membership organization of business, government and non-profit organizations. MPA strongly believes in the positive participation and contributions of the private business sector working in collaboration with Governments, Real estate developers, homebuilders, engineers, architects, planners, construction sub-contractors and professional service providers. MPA’s goal is to participate, educate and influence public policy and decision making for Metropolitan Pima County.
