Breakfast Committee, Chair, Brian Harpel
The Breakfast Committee is charged to work closely with the all aspects of the Alliance. Monthly breakfasts will ensure timely topics to educate Members and to help stimulate dialog. This includes developing strong networking between Members, and building relationships between Members and Elected leaders in metropolitan Pima County. The committee is to recommend topics to the board for consideration and approval and to coordinate speakers for the meetings.
2008 Common Ground Committee, Chair, TBD
The Common Ground Committee’s Mission is to sponsor a community leadership event which is to recognize leaders whose community involvement will affect positive change in metropolitan Pima County. Common Ground will illustrate the value of governmental entities, individuals, businesses and organizations for their willingness to work with others to find “Common Ground” which benefits the community. The committees plan the evening’s events and upon approval from the board will execute an annual awards celebration that achieves the following goals:
1. Generates revenue in support of MPA’s advocacy and operational activities;
2. Fosters and recognizes community projects resulting from uncommon partnerships;
3. Raises community awareness of MPA and creates a positive perception of the organization.
Finance Committee, Chair, 2008 Executive Committee
The Finance Committee’s Mission is to review the funds of the organization on a regular basis. It will monitor, oversee and maintain financial responsibility by ensuring that the organization has sufficient funding and that those funds are used efficiently. The Committee will make appropriate recommendations to the Board and/or the Executive Committee regarding the financial matters.
Membership Committee, Chair, Mark Jaffee, Canoa Homes
The Membership Committee’s Mission is to assist in building a community within the organization that can increase the success of MPA. The Committee will include in its mission to increase and retain membership both from a number and a company diversification standpoint. In addition, the Committee will be available to assist members with how to become more involved and will recommend to the board ideas on how to provide value added services.
Public Policy Committee, Tri-Chairs, Lee Aitken, Bill Carroll, and Dave Naugle
The Public Policy Committee’s Mission is to monitor governmental jurisdictions for emerging policies, rules and ordinances that will have an impact on MPA members. When important legislation or regulations are being planned or debated, MPA can mobilize concerned business people across Pima County through its Committee to respond effectively to such action. The Committee will prepare recommendations to the Board and/or the Executive Committee regarding these types of matters and will implement Board recommendations.
Public Relations Committee, Chair, Linda Cohen, The Caliber Group
Public Relations Committee’s Mission is to provide current and potential Members and community leaders with a steady flow of information through a variety of channels. The committee will accomplish this goal through development of numerous tools to keep visibility high among Members, volunteers, public officials, and other groups or agencies which might lend support.
2008 Wild Ride, Co-Chairs, Alice Templeton, Stantec Consulting, Robert Tucker, Diamond Ventures, Shawn Reeder, WestLand Rseources, Inc.
The Wild Ride Committee's Mission is to provide an opportunity for public and private community stakeholders to visit completed or in progress projects and see the results of technical studies, land use planning and development decisions while enhancing the visibility, reputation, and financial stability of the MPA.
