Brown Bag Lunches

This is a new MPA sponsored program at which public officials are invited to sit down with MPA members and openly discuss a key initiative or program being driven by either the public or private sectors. At the end of the meeting, a plan will be agreed upon that details next steps and means to implementation. MPA has historically attempted to bring people to the table to work out differences as opposed to taking positions on issues and fighting them out in the public forum. These brown bag meetings will act as the proper venue for both sectors to bring ideas to the table and determine the appropriate steps necessary to turn ideas into public policy.

Common Ground Awards

The Common Ground Celebration and Award Ceremony is a community event that recognizes leaders whose community involvement affects positive change in metropolitan Pima County. This year’s event, the fourth annual, will be held on the evening of Friday, November 7 at the University Marriott. The annual awards celebration achieves the following goals:

1. Generates revenue in support of MPA’s advocacy & operational activities;
2. Fosters & recognizes community projects resulting from uncommon partnerships;
3. Raises community awareness of MPA & creates a positive perception of the organization.

Wild Ride

MPA’s Wild Ride provides an opportunity for public and private community stakeholders to visit completed or in-progress projects to visibly see the results of technical studies, land use planning and development decisions while enhancing the visibility, reputation, and financial stability of the MPA. In May 2008, the Fifth Annual Wild Ride took place showcasing the projects along the southern portion of the De Anza Trail, between Sahuarita Road and Tubac.
