MPA joined a Coalition of landowners to repeal a draft flood risk map released by FEMA during their Map Modernization Process. The Coalition worked closely with Senator Kyl and Congresswoman Giffords to develop a practical solution relevant to the region.

|
Pima County Comprehensive Plan Amendment for Water
MPA participated in several stakeholder meetings. Additionally, MPA submitted several letters to the County Administrator, Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Supervisors identifying issues and alternative suggestions to the Amendment. The County accepted some of the offered suggestions made by MPA, as well as other stakeholder participants. a

MPA participated in a stakeholder group in support of the County’s sustainability initiative that incentivized rather than mandated, green building standards.

Riparian Habitat Mitigation Standards & Implementation Guidelines
MPA submitted recommendations and comments to the County Mitigation Working Group. (link to letter)
Commercial Rainwater Harvesting
MPA worked with a stakeholder group and the City of Tucson on the first Commercial Rainwater Harvesting ordinance in the country.

Prop 200: Water User Bill of Rights
MPA created opposition literature for publicity pamphlet against this detrimental, no growth initiative.
MPA made significant contribution to campaign against this initiative.

Public Safety Impact Fee
MPA negotiated with City on establishing a new public safety impact fee of $1589 per single-family home and $1277 per 1,000sf of commercial space.

Action: Participated in several focus groups. City of Tucson NPZ Information.

Community Finance District
MPA worked with City staff on draft of policy for CFD creation and implementation. MPA directly submitted comments regarding the application fee and administration fee. Succeeded in negotiating a significant reduction as proposed by City staff.

NE Benefit Area Transportation Impact Fee
Worked with staff on proposed NE Benefit Area Transportation Impact Fee of $6872/du
The affected area is bound by the CAP canal on the east, I-10 to the west, Lambert Rd. to the south and town boundaries to the north.
This area was the only area in the Town currently not subjected to a transportation impact fee. Despite requests, town staff would not recommend phasing the fee in, however staff agreed to stall implementation to July 2008.
Action: Town Council approved the Fee.
