Pima County

Multi Species Conservation Plan With the aid of Westland Resources, MPA hosted a Brown Bag event in order to compile information from our members regarding concerns with the draft plan. MPA submitted a letter to the County noting the Alliance’s comments, concerns and recommendations.

All comments can be viewed here.

MPA met with staff 9/09 and discussed how the revised plan is much more user friendly to the development community. Staff will publicize the new draft within a few weeks.

SWIP Impact Fee
MPA is working to refute the amount and timing of a proposed transportation impact fee. BOS is scheduled to vote on the fee Oct 6, 09. Click

RESULT: The BOS approved the impact fee with the condition that staff work with MPA to determine an implementation date. County staff, MPA, SAHBA and local economists will work on determining a date. The BOS will then vote to approve the date.

Tucson

Economic Stimulus Stakeholder Group MPA is heading an organized Stakeholder Group as designated by the Tucson City Council. This Group is tasked with making recommendations to the City Council on how the City can help stimulate the local economy. This issue originated with the proposition of suspending impact fees.

Stimulus Brainstorming Ideas, Recommendation

RESULT: Tucson City Council voted to defer the payment of Impact Fees in exchange for a contribution towards the Affordable Housing Trust Fund.

Protected Development Rights MPA is working with the City to gain Protected Development Rights for approved projects unable to move forward at this time due to the economy. Mayor and Council authorized staff to pursue this policy and bring it back to Council March 24th.

PROP 200: MPA's position

ERZ/WASH/RIPARIAN ORDINANCE: M
PA member Amanda Best of WestLand Resources serves as MPA's representative on the Resource Planning Advisory Committee (RPAC) which has been charged with creating a new ordinance combining aspects of the ERZ, Flood Control and Riparian ordinances. This is expected to go to Council early 2010.

PROPOSITION 200 POSITION PAPER

Marana

Habitat Conservation Plan MPA is actively working with the Town of Marana on updating their Habitat Conservation Plan. MPA member Westland Resources serves on the roundtable HCP committee established by the Town of Marana.   

Land Use Code MPA is working with the Town to reintroduce the Code modification process originally proposed by Clarion in 2005.

Sahuarita

Flood Control Ordinance MPA is working with staff on their upcoming flood control ordinance which will also address riparian habitat.

Development Plan Time Extensions MPA worked with staff to determine a process as related to granting time extensions for development plans. See

Oro Valley

MPA supported the Town's greywater and solar ordinances.

Landscape Code (Rainwater Harvesting) MPA actively worked with Town staff on revisions to their Landscape Code. After working collaboratively with the Town for several months, MPA supports the draft ordinance expected to go to Council in November. View Staff Report here:
